Types of Venous Disorders

Spider Veins Spider Veins

Thinly crimson or purple veins resembling spider webs, no wider than 1 milimeter, that can appear on legs, face and body. On the legs, spider veins frequently are fed by larger, insufficient reticular veins. They can be estethically unappealing and one of the main reasons for consultation at the Clinic.

Reticular veins with spider veinsReticular Veins

Visible blue or green veins that are 2 to 3 millimeters wide. They can cause leg pain and fatigue, but unlike varicose veins, they do not bulge and usually are not originated by a deeper venous disease.

Varicose Veins

Varicose VeinsEngrossed, cord-shaped veins that bulge under the skin and that can be painful. Varicose veins usually have defective valves, causing the blood to pool. The damage and weakening of these valves is usually hereditary.

Varicose Leg Ulcers

They mostly occur around the ankle, like an open wound that does not heal spontaneously. Ulcers are quite painful and they represent a serious form of venous disease that requires aggresive and immediate treatment.

Chronic Venous Insufficiency

Severe venous disorder that has been present long enough to cause edema (swelling), tissue inflammation, and ulcers. Most of these cases improve dramatically following the adequate treatment.
